Dra. Serena Wieder

ALGUNAS SUGERENCIAS PARA INTERVENCIONES COGNITIVAS DE RESOLUCION DE PROBLEMAS BASADAS EN EL AFECTO (Sugerencias extraídas literalmente de apuntes de la Dra. Serena Wieder, material incluido en su curso de entrenamiento, “Buliding the Foundations for Children and Families”; New York Conference-Junio 20-21, 2004)

Durante el día hay muchas situaciones que presentan una oportunidad de alentar a al niño a pensar y resolver problemas cuando se la enfrenta a situaciones que no se espera o cuando quiere algo y necesita darse cuenta de cómo comunicar qué es lo que quiere u obtenerlo.
Si bien es cierto que la repetición de las mismas cosas y la anticipación disminuye su ansiedad y puede llegar a hacer más fácil el aprendizaje, experimentar variaciones inesperadas o “sorpresas” graduales puede generar afecto y estimular al niño a lograr lo que se mencionó anteriormente( resolver un problema, comunicar exactamente qué quiere, obtenerlo, etc.) Cuando los adultos que trabajan con el niño responden a las “sorpresas” con curiosidad e interés, están ayudando su tolerancia e interés hacia todo lo “nuevo”. Si el niño se asusta o se siente muy frustrado y comienza a ponerse nervioso o enojado es importante proveer la mediación necesaria para tranquilizarlo, ayudarlo a organizarse y poder resolver el problema.
OBJETIVOS:
Aumentar la Atención – para ayudarlo a estar más alerta y consciente de los cambios- esto puede llegar a involucrar notar que hay algo diferente, discriminar información visual, auditiva o de otra modalidad sensorial, reconocer que se encuentra frente a “un obstáculo”, identificar que tiene un problema, etc.
Aumentar Iniciativa- ayudarlo a tomar mayor iniciativa y ser menos pasivo en su ambiente. Esto quiere decir no darle todo hecho, automáticamente, “ritualizado”. Queremos que se vuelva más crítico y listo para empezar a resolver los problemas por si mismo. Es aquí donde es crítico esto de poder ESPERARLO para poder darle la oportunidad de reconocer ese problema y darse cuenta que es él quien tiene que empezar a hacer algo al respecto.
Crear flexibilidad- ayudarlo a ser más flexible- mientras que la repetición hace la vida mucho más predecible y comprensible, pequeños cambios y pequeños problemas lo ayudan a darse cuenta, a iniciar así como también a tolerar cambios , aprender a enfrentarlos, resolviendo un problema y aprender información nueva.
Aumentar Planeamiento Motor- para ayudarlo a secuenciar más y acciones más complejas- Si e niño tiene dificultades de planeamiento motor es importante hacerlo experimentar situaciones que tengan la mayor cantidad de pasos posibles para resolver un problema y poder comunicar lo que quiere o necesita a través de gestos, palabras, acciones.
Aprender a “trabajar “- participando en trabajo “significativo” en la casa lo alienta tener un sentido de competencia, organización y a ayudar a otros en la familia. Hay mucho trabajos para hacer en la casa que requierensecuenciación, uso de ambas manos, uso de herramientas, colgar objetos, colgar ropa, etc. En general, los chicos disfrutan estas tareas y lo más importante es que este tipo de tareas forman el camino del razonamiento ya que hay razones reales para hacer los trabajos y para hacerlos en determinada secuencia.
IDENTIFICAR OPORTUNIDADES DE RESOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS
Para poder identificar estas oportunidades de crear cambios y problemas habrá que intentar pensar acerca de todo lo que hace al niño durante su día:
Todo lo que rutinariamente se hace POR EL. Todo lo que el niño espera que nosotros hagamos Todo lo que el niño sabe y espera hacer por si mismo Todas las cosas que él quiere o los lugares a los que quiere ir Desafíos diarios
Se puede tratar de pensar en cosas que estén debajo de cada ítem y empezar a “crear cambios o problemas” Por ejemplo: ¿Qué pasaría si cuando va a comer, se encuentra con el tenedor y la cuchara agarrados de una gomita? ¿Qué pasaría si cuando lo ayudamos a vestirse le ponemos las medias en las manos? ¿Qué pasaría si sus muñecas Barbie están atadas con una soga, o algunos de los instrumentos de su banda están envueltos en muchos papeles de diario?
Como estas , se pueden pensar muchas situaciones y ponerlas en práctica para ayudarlo a resolver y a extender la comunicación Es probable que el niño se sienta frustrado, enojado, sorprendido, etc. Se puede acercársele, y compartir la sorpresa, apoyarlo y ayudarlo. Intentar extender el problema lo más posible, tratando de recordar que el objetivo no es hacer que se enoje, sino que pueda ir movilizando su pensamiento y su acción enfrentándolo a algo que quiere o que le importa.
